HERE’S WHAT WAS HAPPENING NOVEMBER 1–DECEMBER 31, 2009

PMA 4.0 ... Ongoing

Welcome to version 4.0 of the PMA website! We're all very excited about the new upgrade, even though it's currently under construction. The first thing you'll probably notice is the new "look and feel." We've tried to jazz it up a little aesthetically and, at the same time, make it easier to find things and navigate the site.  In addition, our mandate has always been to make our site tolerable for those folks out there who are still using dial-up, so though you may encounter more modern "bells and whistles" within PMA 4.0, we'll never add them for their own sake at the expense of bogging down your connection.  Hopefully our broadband users will appreciate the speed too.

Our Volunteer Assistant Webmaster will do his level best to keep this beta Home page current, but asks that you please understand that our primary goal is to flesh out the major content and populate dead links on this beta site so we can effect a quicker transition from the current production site.  He also humbly apologizes for his mono-linguism (and if that's not a word, he apologizes for that too!).  Unfortunately, the Polish version (wersja polska) will languish until he can finish the English site then coordinate with a competent translator.

Your comments, suggestions and criticisms are welcome.  Just click our email address in the top, right corner of this, or any other page, and drop us a line.

"Kolendy Kollege," Ornament Class & Gift Shop Sale—Sunday, December 6

Now is the season for Polish holiday traditions. We'll be singing carols at the "Kolendy Kollege" and making decorations in the Ornament Class. And it's not too late to get your Christmas shopping done early! Come see our selection of fine crystal and amber this weekend. We're having a mini book sale too (that's a mini sale of books, not a sale of mini books, just to clarify for you fans of small-print masterpieces). Look for our newest Gift Shop items, embroidered Tee Shirts and Wigilia Towels.

Family Wigilia & Gift Shop Holiday Sale Event—Saturday, December 5

The Family Wigilia is coming up this weekend (Saturday, December 5). If you've already made your reservations, we'll see you there! While you're here, do some Christmas shopping at our Gift Shop Holiday Sale.

Museum and Library Closure—December 4 & 7

Due to the Family Wigilia and Christmas gift sale coming up this weekend, the museum and library will be closed Friday, December 4 and Monday, December 7 to give the staff some well-deserved time off after preparing for and participating in the big weekend events.  See our Visit Us page for complete hours and closures.

Paderewski Room Re-opens!

The Paderewski Room reopened the evening of November 6, the 149th anniversary of the birth of Ignacy Jan Paderewski. Close to 100 people attended the invitation-only event. The party was very elegant with minimal remarks. Everyone had a good time. More importantly, our guests were awed by the renovated space. Details of the renovation project have been kept under wraps since about April. This was a promise to our sponsors that they would be the first to see the completed project. Now that the exhibit Room is officially re-opened to the public I will be posting photos here and on Facebook (search Polish Museum) over the next several weeks.
