Lira Singers at the Polish Museum of America
Beautiful Polish carols in various styles, well-known American carols, plus Polish patriotic music will fill the halls of the Polish Museum of America on Sunday, December 16, 2018 at 3pm when the famed Lira Singers perform there with the Lira Chamber Players
The Singers, wearing authentic Polish folk garb, will also present Polish patriotic numbers in celebration of the Rebirth of Poland after World War I. The entire concert of “Polish & American Carols” will be conducted by Mina Zikri, Lira’s resident conductor, and narrated by Lucyna Migala, artistic director/general manager of the Lira Ensemble, the only professional performing arts company in the US that is devoted to Polish music, song and dance. Lira is based at Loyola University Chicago as its first artist-in-residence.
Lira CD’s of Polish carols and folk music, plus the company’s brand new CD of Polish and American patriotic music titled “Polish American Spirit,” will be available for purchase at the event.
A wine and cheese reception proceeds the concert and a Polish buffet dinner follows, all covered by the ticket price of $35.00 per person, with a discount for PMA members. The Museum offers free adjacent parking.
This Lira Ensemble appearance is funded in part by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council Agency of the state of Illinois.
Please note that seating is extremely limited, so early ticket purchase is advised.
