For two unforgettable evenings, October 28 & 30, the Polish Museum of America opened its doors to art lovers and film enthusiasts for the Chicago premiere of “The True Story of Tamara de Lempicka & The Art of Survival.” This captivating documentary shed new light on the extraordinary life of the legendary painter – an artist whose style, courage, and independence continue to inspire and delight.
Each screening featured a special introduction and post-film discussion with Marisa de Lempicka, the great-granddaughter of the artist, guided by Chicago’s acclaimed film critic Zbigniew Banaś.
This wonderful event became a reality thanks to the initiative of Joanna Burek, whose idea to bring the film to the Museum sparked the entire project, and who, together with PMA Curator Julita Siegel, worked tirelessly to make it possible.
We are delighted to share that the event was a beautiful success – with remarkable turnout, lively atmosphere, with guests who came dressed as heroines from Lempicka’s paintings, adorned in colorful scarves, hats, and elegant outfits.

Przez dwa niezapomniane wieczory, 28 oraz 30 października, Muzeum Polskie w Ameryce gościło miłośników sztuki i filmu podczas premiery chicagowskiej dokumentu „The True Story of Tamara de Lempicka & The Art of Survival.” Ten fascynujący film przybliżył niezwykłe życie legendarnej malarki – artystki, której styl, odwaga i niezależność niezmiennie inspirują i zachwycają pokolenia.
Pokaz filmu poprzedzony był wprowadzeniem i zakończony rozmową z Marisą de Łempicką, prawnuczką artystki, prowadzoną przez znanego chicagowskiego krytyka filmowego Zbigniewa Banasia.
To wyjątkowe wydarzenie mogło się odbyć dzięki inicjatywie Joanny Burek, której pomysł, aby zaprezentować film w naszym Muzeum, zapoczątkował całe przedsięwzięcie. Wraz z kustosz Julitą Siegel, Joanna Burek z ogromnym zaangażowaniem i pasją pracowała nad jego realizacją.
Z radością dzielimy się informacją, że wydarzenie okazało się pięknym sukcesem – z liczną publicznością, wspaniałą atmosferą i gośćmi, którzy pojawili się w stylizacjach inspirowanych bohaterkami obrazów Łempickiej: w barwnych chustach, kapeluszach i eleganckich strojach.
