POLISH MUSEUM OF AMERICA PRESENTS A LECTURE BY STEFAN WŁADYSIUK
Arthur Szyk as a Promoter of Polish-American Friendship

The Polish Museum of America cordially invites the public to a special lecture by Stefan Władysiuk of the Library at the Polish Institute in Montreal:

“Arthur Szyk as a Promoter of Polish-American Friendship”

Date: July 9, 2026
Time: 6:00 PM
Location: Polish Museum of America (984 N Milwaukee Ave, Chicago, IL)
Admission: $20

The lecture will explore the life and work of Arthur Szyk (1894–1951), one of the most celebrated Polish-Jewish-American artists of the 20th century. Renowned for his masterful illuminations, paintings, and political cartoons, Szyk used his art to champion democracy, human rights, and the enduring ties between Poland and the United States.
A special attention will be given to Szyk’s efforts to highlight the contributions of Poles to American history, including his celebrated series The Glorious Days of the Polish-American Fraternity. Through his art, Szyk served as a cultural ambassador who promoted mutual understanding and friendship between the Polish and American peoples.
The event is presented in conjunction with the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States, offering an opportunity to reflect on the historical connections that have united Poland and America for generations.
