General Tadeusz Kosciuszko: Memory and Monuments in the USA

As part of its Kościuszko Bicentennial commemoration, The Polish Museum of America invites the public to a Power Point lecture: “General Tadeusz Kościuszko: Memory and Monuments in the USA”.

The English language lecture will present how the new Republic honored him after his service in the Revolutionary War and how American Polonia upheld the memory of the “hero of two countries” during the time of the partitions Material from the PMA’s extensive Archives will highlight this informative presentation by Mr. Jan M. Lorys, PMA Historian.

Admittance for the presentation is $12.00, which covers admission to the PMA and the Kosciuszko Bicentennial Exhibit and refreshments.

Parking is always free in the lots west of the building and the PMA is accessible from the 56 Milwaukee bus and we are half way between the Chicago and Division stops on the Blue Line.

Muzeum Polskie w Ameryce zaprasza na prelekcję w języku angielskim: „Generał Tadeusz Kościuszko: Pamięć i Pomniki w USA”.

Na wykładzie omawiany będzie temat – w jaki sposób nowe państwo uhonorowało swojego Generała ochotnika oraz jak Polonia w Ameryce czciła pamięć „bohatera dwóch narodów” w czasach rozbiorów. Materiały z archiwum fortograficznego oraz współczesne zdjęcia zilustrują prezentację Jana M. Lorysia, historyka MPA.

Wstęp – $12

Great Hall

Sabina P. Logisz Great Hall was originally designed as the auditorium for the Polish Roman Catholic Union of America headquarters. In 1939, it was adapted for the needs of the Museum. The center space of the Great Hall presents rotating temporary exhibitions of documentary and historical content, as well as art and artists, both local and international.
