It is with profound sadness that the Polish Museum of America mourns the passing of Mr. Wallace M. Ozog, former President of the Polish Roman Catholic Union of America (PRCUA), on Saturday, February 28, 2026.

Mr. Ozog earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology from the Detroit Institute of Technology and dedicated 32 years to the Michigan Department of Social Services as an analyst and consultant, retiring in 1998. Shortly thereafter, he became National President of PRCUA, following 12 years as National Non-Resident Vice President. His lifelong dedication to the Polish-American community included leadership in sports programs, cultural initiatives, Polish language and dance schools, and membership growth.

A lifelong promoter of Polish culture, Wallace proudly represented the organization and met numerous dignitaries, including Pope John Paul II, Polish President Lech Wałęsa, U.S. Presidents, Cardinal Józef Glemp, and other religious leaders. He was a longtime member of PRCUA Societies Fr. Al’s (1493) and St. John Paul (1593), organizing tournaments, fundraising events, and community activities, and he brought joy to gatherings with his humor, warmth, and famous Polish recipes.

Mr. Ozog also served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Polish Museum of America and was a Life Member, along with his entire family. He was deeply involved in other Polish-American organizations, scholarship programs, and cultural events, leaving a lasting legacy.

On August 12, 1966, Mr. Ozog married Mrs. Joann Shirley Kushel, with whom he shared 59 years of partnership. We extend our heartfelt condolences to Joann, who was herself a devoted volunteer and former Membership Chair, Events Coordinator, and Volunteer Coordinator at the Museum. She was honored with the Polish Spirit Award for her contributions, including organizing many workshops at the Museum. We share in her grief and offer our deepest sympathy.

Z głębokim smutkiem Muzeum Polskie w Ameryce opłakuje śmierć Pana Wallace’a M. Ozoga, byłego Prezesa Zjednoczenia Polskiego Rzymsko-Katolickiego (ZPRKA), który odszedł w sobotę, 28 lutego 2026 roku.

Pan Ozog uzyskał tytuł Bachelor of Science w dziedzinie socjologii na Detroit Institute of Technology i przez 32 lata pracował w Michigan Department of Social Services jako analityk i konsultant, przechodząc na emeryturę w 1998 roku. Niedługo potem został Prezesem ZPRKA, po 12 latach służby jako Krajowy Wiceprezes ds. Nierezydentów. Jego całe życie było poświęcone działalności społecznej, obejmującej programy sportowe, inicjatywy kulturalne, szkoły języka polskiego i tańca oraz rozwój członkostwa.

Jako długoletni promotor polskiej kultury, Pan Ozog dumnie reprezentował swoją organizację i spotykał licznych dostojników, w tym Papieża Jana Pawła II, Prezydenta Polski Lecha Wałęsę, prezydentów USA, Kardynała Józefa Glempa i innych przywódców religijnych. Był wieloletnim członkiem Towarzystw ZPRKA Fr. Al’s (1493) i St. John Paul (1593), organizując turnieje sportowe, akcje charytatywne i wydarzenia społeczne, a swoją obecnością i słynnymi potrawami wnosił radość na każde spotkanie.

Pan Ozog pełnił również funkcję przewodniczącego Rady Dyrektorów Muzeum Polskiego w Ameryce i był Członkiem Wieczystym MPA, wraz z całą swoją rodziną. Był także aktywny w innych organizacjach polonijnych, programach stypendialnych i wydarzeniach kulturalnych, pozostawiając trwałe dziedzictwo.

12 sierpnia 1966 roku Pan Ozog poślubił Panią Joann Shirley Kushel, z którą dzielił 59 lat małżeństwa i partnerskiej współpracy. Wyrażamy szczere kondolencje dla Pani Joann, która sama była zaangażowaną wolontariuszką i pełniła funkcje: Przewodniczącej Członkostwa, Koordynatorki Wydarzeń i Wolontariuszy w Muzeum. Została uhonorowana Polskim Duchem za swoje działania, w tym organizację wielu warsztatów w Muzeum. Składamy jej najszczersze wyrazy współczucia.
