Easter Monday in Poland is a holiday and is called Śmigus-Dyngus (shming-oos-ding-oos) or Lany Poniedziałek (wet Monday). It is traditionally the day when boys try to drench girls with buckets of water. The more a girl is drenched with water, the higher her chances of getting married. This tradition originates from pagan days, when sprinkling another person with water symbolized purification.
