PMA mourns the loss of Leonard Kniffel
The Polish Museum of America honors the memory of PMA Board Member Leonard Kniffel, who passed away on March 19, 2021 of pancreatic cancer.
Born in Mt. Clemens, Michigan on August 25, 1947, Kniffel was a librarian, journalist, and author of several titles, including two memoirs, "Busia: Seasons on the Farm with My Polish Grandmother" and "Busia: School Days on the Farm with my Polish Grandmother". He was a publishing executive for the American Library Association in Chicago, an active member of the Jan Karski Educational Foundation, executive director of the Polish American Librarians Association, and a board member of the Polish Museum of America. Kniffel leaves his life partner of almost 43 years, Carlon B. Walker, along with dozens of treasured cousins, as well as many friends and relatives in the U.S.A., Poland, England, and elsewhere around the world.

Muzeum Polskie w Ameryce żegna Leonarda Kniffela, swojego Mecenasa i Członka Rady Dyrektorów, zmarłego na raka w dniu 19 marca.
Urodzony 25 sierpnia 1947 roku, w miejscowości Mt. Clemens w stanie Michigan. Był bibliotekarzem, redaktorem, dziennikarzem, autorem kilkunastu książek, w tym najnowszych dwóch wspomnień zatytułowanych: „Busia: Seasons on the Farm with My Polish Grandmother” [Busia: Pory roku na farmie z moją polską Babcią] oraz „Busia: School Days on the Farm with my Polish Babcia” [Busia: Dni szkolne na farmie z moją polską Babcią].
Był dyrektorem wydawniczym American Library Association w Chicago, aktywnym członkiem Jan Karski Educational Foundation, dyrektorem wykonawczym Stowarzyszenia Bibliotekarzy Polsko-Amerykańskich oraz członkiem zarządu Muzeum Polskiego w Ameryce.
W nieutulonym żalu pozostaje partner Carlon B. Walker wraz z wieloma kuzynami, a także licznymi przyjaciółmi i krewnymi w USA, Polsce, Anglii i na całym świecie.
