Polish Museum of America welcomed distinguished guests Consul Rie Arai and Deputy Consul-General Naoya Kishi from the Consulate-General of Japan in Chicago. They delved into our unique archival collection, including original Japanese letters from 1939, shedding light on WWII perspectives. Today, the Polish Museum of America had the honor of hosting distinguished guests, Consul Rie Arai and Deputy Consul-General Naoya Kishi from the Consulate-General of Japan in Chicago. Their visit focused on our remarkable archival collection, particularly the original Japanese letters written in the early days of September 1939 to Tadeusz Romer, Ambassador to Japan from 1937-1941. These letters offer a unique insight into the Japanese people's reaction to the onset of World War II.
Following an insightful overview of our document collection, our guests embarked on a museum tour led by PMA's Managing Director, Malgorzata Kot, alongside our dedicated Archivists. The tour included captivating stops such as the Great Hall, the Paderewski Room, and the Art Gallery. This visit marks the beginning of what we anticipate will be a series of visits, as we eagerly delve deeper into and celebrate the rich tapestry of Polish-Japanese connections.

Dziś Muzeum Polskie w Ameryce miało zaszczyt gościć znamienitych gości, Konsula Rie Arai oraz Zastępcę Konsula Generalnego Naoyę Kishi z Konsulatu Generalnego Japonii w Chicago. Ich wizyta koncentrowała się na naszym niezwykłym zbiorze archiwalnym, a w szczególności na oryginalnych japońskich listach pisanych w pierwszych dniach września 1939 r. do Tadeusza Romera, ambasadora w Japonii w latach 1937-1941. Listy te dają wyjątkowy wgląd w reakcję Japończyków na wybuch II wojny światowej.
Po wnikliwym zapoznaniu się z naszą kolekcją dokumentów, nasi goście zwiedzili muzeum wraz z Dyrektor Zarządzającą MPA, Małgorzatą Kot, oraz naszymi oddanymi Archiwistkami. Tura obejmowała Wielką Salę, Pokój Paderewskiego oraz Galerię. Wizyta ta jest początkiem tego, co jak przewidujemy, będzie serią wizyt, gdyż z niecierpliwością będziemy zagłębiać się i celebrować bogaty gobelin polsko-japońskich powiązań.
