The Grand Return: Restoring Poland’s Cultural Heritage

The lecture discussed the return of seven paintings by the Brotherhood of St. Luke from the Polish Pavilion at the 1939 New York World's Fair to the National Museum in Warsaw.

The Polish Museum of America and the Polish Studies Program at Loyola University Chicago presented “The Grand Return: The Journey of the Brotherhood of St Luke Paintings from the Polish Pavilion at the 1939 New York World’s Fair.” The speakers were Dr. Peter Obst, Researcher, Poles in America Foundation, Elżbieta Rogowska, Director, and Department of Restitution of Cultural Property, Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of the Republic of Poland, Tomasz Śliwiński, Counsellor, Department for Restitution of Cultural Property, Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of the Republic of Poland. The subject of the lecture was the return of the seven paintings by the Brotherhood of St. Luke commissioned for the Polish Pavilion in 1939, from Le Moyne College Library in Syracuse to the National Museum in Warsaw.

Muzeum Polskie w Ameryce i Program Studiów Polskich na Loyola University Chicago zaprezentowały „The Grand Return: The Journey of the Brotherhood of St Luke Paintings from the Polish Pavilion at the New York World’s Fair 1939”. Dzisiejszymi mówcami byli Dr. Peter Obst, pracownik naukowy Poles in America Foundation, Elżbieta Rogowska, Elżbieta Rogowska, dyrektor Departamentu Restytucji Dóbr Kultury Ministerstwa Kultury i Dziedzictwa Narodowego, Tomasz Śliwiński, radca, Departament Restytucji Dóbr Kultury, Ministerstwo Kultury i Dziedzictwa Narodowego RP. Tematem wykładu był powrót siedmiu obrazów Bractwa św. Łukasza wystawionych oryginalnie w Pawilonie Polskim w 1939 roku, z Le Moyne College Library w Syracuse do Muzeum Narodowego w Warszawie.
